A True Salute to Soldiers of Indian Army | Republic Day Special
For our soldiers and army troops what could be an honest and dignified tribute.
How much does our government and politicians care about our soldiers.
Let us try to understand.
In reality there could be a lot of issues that needs to be addressed
like are the soldiers provided with required amount of bulletproof jackets or not
army’s one rank one pension scheme is implemented or not,
but all of these are really lengthy and complex problems.
So I just want to focus on a very simple and basic issue concerning our martyrs,
when our army men lose their life and die fighting then the future of their families depend on a very bizarre thing
and that is MARKET RATE OF MARTYRDOM.
This is absolutely absurd, isn’t it but that is the fact
and this market rate depends on TV ratings.
If your brother or husband has lost his life in a popular attack
then the Chief Ministers of most of the states will announce a huge compensation amount.
For instance consider these examples:
The families of Uri and Mumbai attack martyrs were paid 20 to 30 lakhs as the compensation amount
but if the families of martyr are out of luck and have not drawn any media coverage
then this 20-30 lakh will shrink to 1-2 lakh but there is no lower limit to this rate
like when last month an Indian Air Force plane crashed,
in which 29 people went missing but not even a single family got even a one penny compensation.
Despite of high media coverage, our martyr’s family may be unlucky
because this MARKET RATE also depends on which state our soldiers hail from.
For instance, the Siachen tragedy fetched a lower compensation from Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu
while Kerala and Karnataka doled out a higher compensation.
The same story goes for the latest Uri attack.
Uttar Pradesh’s CM Akhilesh Yadav announced 20 lakhs for the martyrs.
Nitish Kumar Bihar’s CM announced 5 lakhs.
West Bengal’s CM Mamta Banerjee announced 2 lakhs.
But if you somehow feel that Uttar Pradesh’s CM gave a better compensation then even this is your misconception
because even these things are dependent on TV ratings.
For instance, the Dadri case victim got a compensation of 45 lakhs by CM Akhilesh Yadav
while the accused, crime-perpetrator also received 25 lakhs
this is like Suresh Kalmadi’s family getting 25 lakh for his natural death.
Worst case scenario is garnering zero TV ratings for an incident,
as a result of which the soldier’s family gets zero compensation
like the Indian Air Force plane crash incident where twice the number of military men died but none have got any compensation.
After 8 months of martyrdom of Shankar Shinde there has been no noticeable change in the situation,
this information is also for those who take on tweeter with chants of martyr, martyr.
It has been 8 months now but till now we’ve received no official help,
and these people come and announce this aid that aid but no one gives a damn.
We were promised a house and someone said that they’ll get a certain FD,
but no one gave anything.
So through all these facts, one thing is pretty clear that the governments should fix a standard compensation for our soldiers
but it is debatable – what should be the price of this standard compensation.
Till now all the examples that I’ve shared have endorsed 20 lakhs as a higher compensation category
but the fact is even 20 lakhs is not a sufficient amount for a soldier’s family.
I’ve just received a 20 lakhs cheque and nothing else from the government.
I was very hopeful that they’ll help us further but nothing has happened so far.
When our coordinator Manish met Vishal Chaudhary’s family,
he was been told by the family members that on 1 August during the last rites ADM-level officials arrived,
after the last rites district officer and senior police official arrived
who handed a cheque of 20 lakhs rupees from the state government.
But this amount is not sufficient.
In 2004, Vishal Chaudhary joined 18th Jat National Rifle,
he has three daughters who were born at the same time.
Their house in village is in a ruined state
and they’re staying in a rented house in city for continuing their daughter’s education.
Government has given us a cheque of 20 lakhs
and apart from that we’ve no aid from centre or anyone nor anyone has visited us from the centre.
I can give you a legal proof of this.
On 15th January, a CRPF man was killed under the wheels of DTC bus
when his family filed a court case for fixing a compensation amount
then the MCAT tribunal decided that 68 lakhs should be the minimum amount for compensation.
This has been agreed by the court as well.
Then if our soldiers who die in road accidents
are authorized to get minimum compensation of 68 lakhs
then don’t you think that our soldiers who are martyred on the border
have to be compensated with a higher compensation.
So by a patriotic estimate we can safely say that an amount of 1 crore will be a true salute to our soldiers.
Our Olympics medallist who won a medal in Olympics like PV Sindhu received 10 to 12 crore of rewards.
Now we cannot compare those rewards with the compensation of a martyr
but the monetary value of it can be compared because both are in the line of duty of nation.
So that’s why I feel this price should be in crores and not in lakhs.
Interestingly, there is a politician whose statements have been twisted by media
declaring him as the biggest anti-national,
his is the only state in which a standard compensation rate is fixed.
I’m talking about Delhi and Kejriwal.
In Delhi if any police, para-military, army officer, CRPF men, or even a bus marshal
dies in the line of duty then their family will get a compensation of 1 crore.
This 1 crore compensation is a law in Delhi.
On the other hand, Gujarat state government is the first ever government
who has come up with a proposal that army martyrs family will be compensated with a maximum of 1 lakh.
In complete India, this is the first government which is announcing
that there is a maximum amount
beyond which there cannot be scope of any compensation and this maximum amount is 1 lakh.
This pain is of martyr Hemraj’s mother. Hemraj was beheaded by intruder Pakistani soldiers.
“We’ve not received anything. The statue that we erected, we erected by our own money, that’s all is there now, nothing else.”
“I’ve two daughters and a son. I’m here in a rented house, our own house is dilapidated in village. Children education is the concern. What can I do?”
How are you managing your household?
Our house is facing a hard time, it is a tension to manage meals.
We’ve to perform manual labour, mother is also labourer – she still does it.
I’d like to conclude by saying that we cannot blame this on central government
as central government is already responsible for disbursing salaries to army officers.
So this failing is of the state governments.
Please share this video so that this message reaches our state governments
and our army officers get their deserved respect.
Thank you.
