Shivaji Memorial Statue Exposed By Dhruv Rathee | Waste of Taxpayer's Money 

On Mumbai's coast, there will be a new statue of Shivaji

This will be world's tallest statue

It will cost 3600 Cr rupees

Just yesterday, PM Modi inaugurated it..

And the construction started from 24 Dec 2016

This is a good example of..

How to dump millions of rupees into the sea

The idea for building this came in 1980

In 2004, a budget of 100 Cr was proposed

By 2009, this cost increased to 700 Cr

And now, by 2016..

the cost has inflated up to 3600 Cr

Almost 35 times the original amount

This much amount of money is more than health budget of Mumbai

Also more than education budget of Mumbai

I can tell you 100 reasons where this money can be used

But some people will justify it by saying..

by comparing it to Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower like monuments

But these people have no idea how high this price of 3600 Cr is

If you think, this statue's tourism revenue..

..can recover the cost of this statue

Then you're thinking very wrong

Lets compare this to the tourism revenue of Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is India' s most popular visited monument

Taj Mahal's yearly revenue is between 20-25 Cr

So if this Shivaji's statue becomes as popular as Taj Mahal..

and earns 25 Cr per year in tourism revenue

Then to recover this 3600 Cr, it will take 144 years

Almost 150 years to recover the original cost of Statue!

And that too, assuming theres no maintenance cost

No maintanece cost in 150 years!

So all this money being spent on it

It's only right to say that..

This 3600 Cr is being just dumped into the sea

Enviornmentals say that state doesn't even have a disaster plan for it

On top of it, experts claim this statue will be an ecological disaster

It will destroy the sea's coastline and increase water pollution

And will impact lives of 1.5 lakh fishermen

in fact, some 150 fishermen were protesting against it yesterday

Police detained all of them

And imposed Sec 144 on the place

Shivaji ruler always cared for people all his life

If he was there today,

He'd stop this wastage of money and disaster that will happen himself

That these politicians are doing

Its important to tell the govt. whatever they're doing is wrong

They're doing it for caste politics or whatever reason

Its not the fault of BJP & Shiv Sena alone here..

This idea was proposed by Congress & NCP in 1980
