From last three days,

I went to a big media event

called Global Media Forum

at Bonn city in Germany.

This event was organised by the German public Media Broadcaster

named "Deutsche Welle"

Its kinda like Indian DD news of Germany (Government News Agency)

organised by "Deutsche Welle" and

it was a very big event

worldwide journalist and activist were invited.

I am glad to let you know that

me too was invited and

I learned so many things over there

"Voice Whispering"

Here at the Global Leader Forum 2018

what are the different problems faced by different countries of world

and how to fight them.

The solutions can be find out

You can see different perspectives

I learned so many things there and i will tell

what i learned but in another video

because it will take some time to collect the clips

In this video I will show you the interview with

Pratik Sinha as he was also invited in this event

If you dont know him, he is the

Founder of the alt news

In recent times alt news is the best fact checking website of our country.

I tried hard to take interview but as we were standing

in the open ground with wind howling disturbance and much time

he was going to take food

I have made this video with a selfie stick

so there will be some disturbance due to wind howling

It was kind of casual talk rather than an interview

Pratik: Yeah I am good

Let us sit down there

First of all, just tell me

What incident made

you start alt news, Fake news was nothing new

At what point, you thought "No" now its enough

Now lets start Alt news Website

Pratik:Well there is no such incident like that for starting Alt news but

Since 2013,

I was running a Page called "Truth of Gujrat"

and one of my friend, who is also co-founder of Alt News and running a page

Unofficial Subramaniyam Swamy , So we were

already writing that

how Photoshop edited pictures are lies and used for the

propaganda of political parties but

there was no such web portal, you know the Facebook bubble

is such a ideological bubble.

You chose friend on Facebook who agrees with you "ideologically"

and limited there

So this pages not working for other people

But I was increasingly disillusional

Dhruv: You are doing same thing for the "Truth of Gujrat"

Pratik: No "Truth of Gujrat" was started

Pre 2014 elections where we were writing about

Fake encounters,riots etc.

This was different, It was not that much

Gujrat Focused but National Focused

A very niche area

Here we are not doing any general political commentary

Basically we are talking about the misinformation

"Truth of Gujrat" was a lot of political  commentary and legal facts

Dhruv: What made you think that

you should leave "Truth of Gujrat" and should focus on Alt news

Becuase

Number One

I have a Software Engineering Background and

The increasing issues of Fake news

is not getting addressed by anyone in larger scale

some platforms were there before alt news but not Popular

Which is now, and that was necessary to make it large

and being a software engineer I had some skills

Which may help to achieve the

intermixing of journalism and

technology

in India which was lacking there

so I thought this way I can contribute

Dhruv: Tell me that you might have seen

so many fake news which one was the stupidest

Pratik:No such news

Dhruv: For me it was that one

The godly image of Narendra Modi in the waterfalls

That was the stupidest I think

Pratik: Ohh there are so

many images like that, you might have seen the Trump video

It was dubbed video where Trump is holding a child

and asking who do you like the most

and the child replies MODI

Dhruv: Will people believe that??

Pratik: Yes, they were believing and sharing with others too

Dhruv: This is hilarious I haven't watched it yet

Dhruv: Do you know any unthinkable person

Who cant share fake news but he did

Dhruv: No, there is no thing, Anybody can do it

This is a wrong perception even I can also do that

Recently i made a mistake

about a video of Ashok Gahlot

saying something unscientific

but it was edited

even I fall for it and i shared.

and then deleted it of Facebook

and I apologized for that.

actually anybody can fall for FakeNews

meanwhile you are going to fall, atlas we are humans

Dhruv: Necessarily people should understand

that they can also fall for fake news

Dhruv: I also made a mistake by sharing the news about Neerav Modi

which I saw in Economic Times

That stated about the burning of income tax papers in Mumbai Office

Other websites used that and accused me of sharing fake news

But I did correct it . Sometimes mistake happens

But we must correct it that makes the difference

Pratik: Actually the problem is we are too quick to react

I too did that in Gahlot's video

Without checking whether it is true or not

I post it

And usually i dont do mistakes

But the larger point is how to deal with this

you must acknowledge it and then correct it

But nowadays especially almost all political leaders dont do that

People point them about mistakes but

they simply ignore it

Dhruve: ego issues you know. take today's example of Sashi Tharoor.

Pratik: But he did apologized for that

Dhruv: well that's a good thing and it shows the features of Good leaders

and defines good journalism also

So how you felt about the event

Pratik: It was okay, not that much useful

Dhruv: Since three day you are here, do you think you learn something??

Pratik/; Generally the problem is

Lot of journalism  conferences, they keep talking about what they are doing.

But some from activism background

we are looking for solutions for problems associated

In India you see there are around 4 to 5 cases where people have

believed that this are child kidnapping and organ trafficking videos

So what the solution for this.

we must stop talking about that and start acting otherwise it wont benefit us

Dhruve: So what do you think

what is the solution for this??

Pratik: well there is solution for this

You know India has tackled so many issues

like HIV, TB, Polio etc.

Recently in some conferences, people are asking for laws and punisments

but how may people you will punish, hundred, thousands, ten thousands if they share the video

you cant put them in jail, Right??

There should be a nationwide awareness and people must know

which one is true or false

that you see in whatsapp, other platforms like All India Radio are also useful.

it has more reach then whatsapp.

Dhruv: thats good, well it was a small interview with us
