If you are going then please wear your dupatta and go because his eyes are not going to be on your face it will go down, so protect yourself from such people.
Female journalists, who are saying No means No!
There are few such incidents are coming up where journalists or some writers like Chetan Bhagat's name is been coming up
that he is flirting with someone.
Noe this has turned into an argument that can this be included in the category of #MeToo?
Today in Bebaak I'm going to make an appeal to Prime minister Narendra Modi.
That rusticate your foreign minister, M J Akbar from his post.
and you will ask why?
That's because, late but even in India now #MeToo movement has started.
and sexual harassment with women in Media and entertainment industry especially is been spoken about now.
and like this atleast a dozen of women journalists have raised voice against MJ Akbar.
Yes MJ Akbar. whose own well known American friend, Sadanand Dhume says that he's Indian Harvey Weinstein.
Some people will ask who is Harvey Weinstein?
Harvey Weinstein was a well-known Hollywood Producer and he had forced many actresses to have sexual relationships with him.
whoever refused Harvey Weinstein, Harvey Weinstein destroyed their career.
same words are being used for MJ Akbar.
Since the list is so long, I would like to tell you that atleast half a dozen of journalists have come forward,
including, Priya Ramani, Kanika Gehlot, Suparna Sharma, Prerna Bindra and some more anonymous journalists.
and in every incident, MJ Akbar calls them in his 5 star hotel room and in that room where that woman had no kind of security, he would misbehave with them.
But before I move on to each of the case, I would like to bring your attention to an article of First post.
This article of first post is written by an anonymous journalist, a woman journalist.
and do you know as soon as that incident came into light, every woman journalist said that it's written about MJ Akbar!
Would you like to hear that story that brings chill and fear?
so come let me repeat that words of that woman today.
MJ Akbar called this woman journalist in his five star hotel room.
When I reached his room then MJ Akbar had a whisky glass in his hand.
He offered me a drink but I refused.
Then he ordered that female journalist to take out ice from the fridge.
and when she was moving towards the fridge, then MJ Akbar's eyes were like looking at every part of her body.
The female journalist says that a woman can find out when a man is looking at her with bad looks. They can make it out.
So she's telling how MJ Akbar was looking at her and as soon as she bent down towards the fridge to take out the ice and got up
MJ Akbar was standing right behind her and as she offered him ice that is the bucket which had ice
then MJ Akbar picked up a piece of ice starting rubbing it on her hand in this way.
After that this anonymous female journalist says that MJ Akbar started smooching me.
and after that she was frozen completely.
she writes.....
Her throat dried up, her feet was frozen but as soon as MJ Akbar started smooching her, the bucket of ice fell from her hand.
that girl started running somehow
From the MJ Akbar's room on 22nd floor she kept running till 6th floor bare feet.
and when she reached down, she was shivering badly
she was crying profusely
She reached a cab driver and there she started crying
The cab driver told her don't worry I'm not going to rape you.
Such kind of pain this female journalist had to bear.
But do you know this is not just a single case?
Priya Ramani who was earlier working with India Today, Indian Express says that she wrote an article in October 2017 for Vogue
and that she didn't take MJ Akbar's name in this article.
she says that when MJ Akbar called her to his 5 star Hotel room for an interview.
that time it wasn't an interview but a date.
In that interview he was saying her to sit next to him.
Priya Ramani refused.
Even Kanika Gehlot says that he called her to a hotel room and exactly the same language.
Suparna Sharma who is the residential editor or Asian age these days says that she was in her 20s and I was sitting in the news room once.
pay attention to this. I was sitting in the news room and this man did all this openly in the news room.
MJ Akbar came and plucked her bra strap that is unhooked it in a way.
Suparna Shouted loudly at this person in the news room.
Suparna also tells us that atleast 3 females from Asian age has complained about this man regarding sexual misconduct.
This is MJ Akbar's face!
and this story doesn't end here.
Shuma Raha, Prema Bindra, Prema Bindra says that once MJ Akbar, First she didn't take MJ Akbar's name
called her but when she refused to go the hotel at night then continuously MJ Akbar made filthy comments on her
This is the reality of the journalist who has been considered as the great journalist of the country.
a powerful journalist, he is the same journalist who has supported Congress in the 80s.
and today with all the responsibility here standing in front of the south block I'm demanding you prime Minister to terminate him.
Why am I demanding this, I'm demanding this because today many journalists whose old cases are being coming out are resigning from their posts.
Then MJ Akbar has a long list of stories so the question is why won't MJ Akbar resign?
why should we remain silent about him?
Because I remember when Foreign Minister Shushma Swaraj was questioned that time she didn't answer.
The question is who is answerable for this person?
So naturally this becomes very important and we reached to those female journalist who showed their presence through their reporting.
I will start with Rohini Singh, she is the one who has reported on 2G scam, Rohit Wadra, and recently did a strong story on Amit Shah's son.
I have Rohini Singh with me.
When this incident came up about MJ Akbar and you have read this full account so what is the first thing that comes to your mind?
See Abhisar, I read that complete account and six women have complained I felt bad reading it but more than that I get angry.
Angry because Mr. Akbar's behaviour is unchallenged since many years.
and women are not challenging because if they say anything, or refuse or shout then it has a direct impact on their job.
This thing makes me angry and I feel so angry that whatever we talk that we have made so much of progress, there are women CEOs but all this is very charismatic
and on the ground level if our condition and the way we are been treated, we are not judged by our ability or the clothes that I wear, how I speak, how I conduct myself.
and I think that is very unfortunate and that makes me angry
Rohini I would also like to know there are many incidents coming up in media, they have even stepped down
But there are few incidents where some journalist, writer's like Chetan Bhagat's name is coming up that he is flirting with someone.
Now the argument is that should this be included in the category of #MeToo?
so do you there's need to make differences between the real cases where such people are been targeted and these other incident?
and this I've even tweeted on Twitter that I feel like the Chetan Bhagat's the messages that have come
He was flirting was he creepy, was he not creepy.
I don't feel that this is some Harassment case.
and maybe you don't like someone's attention or you feel unwanted, and if you rip off that and after which that person doesn't persist then that's not harassment.
One after the other accounts are coming from journalists that what all they had to face during the initial period of their journalism especially.
Trust me I'm getting goosebumps, feeling so weird and disgusting that those females who have studied, trained to raise voice for the voiceless.
today those women are looking so miserable, so helpless, this let a weird unsafe feeling that our own people from journalism the men have behaved so badly with them
that now after 5, 10, 20 years of their career they are made helpless now.
so clearly apart from this helplessness, the hope that has come from this new generation, through this movement has created a new generation of women journalists who are saying No means No.
If it's not my consent then without my consent you can't do anything.
I, in my experience can only say that yes they are many people like politicians, like bureaucrats or the journalists with whom we have worked on the field
Our senior journalists used to say that if you are going to meet that person that keep a watch see that there is a table between you both.
don't let them sit next to you or meet at the place where there are many other people
at public place. don't go to there house. because their eyes won't be just on your face but will go down on you, protect yourself.
So the same question once again, if all the journalists are resigning from their posts then what's so special with MJ Akbar?
We aren't saying that MJ Akbar is the culprit in the one go or he should be punished.
we are saying that the propriety is demanding that he should first resign from his post and then there should be a impartial investigation.
this will be good for the journalism, and more than that good for the society
and maybe through this when we made a personality sitting on the top position answerable then it shows which kind of democracy it is.
I would only like to say that if the media house or corporate is pressurised that you are accountable
and keep an internal committee to investigate all these complaints which has happened today or before
Then the company for which MJ Akbar works, that is the Government of India then their accountability should be even more as you are the public official.
Now this has even come on the Newspaper's first page.
On one side it's Cultural Alok Nath, where a writer has accused him of rape and on the other side MJ Akbar's picture.
Now this thing has come on the first page, this topic says if today there is no investigation against MJ Akbar then it means that any powerful man can do anything in this country.
and for MJ Akbar, this person has not only did such shameful things but let me tell you MJ Akbar is an opportunist
Now I'm going to tell something which many of you don't know.
Do you remember during the time of triple talak, MJ Akbar gave a lecture in the parliament
He said that Muslims should give away their age old traditions and move forward.
Why did he said that? he said that because he is a minister from Modi Government.
But do you know during the 80s in about Shahabuddin, alimony for a poor, muslim woman's case
when Muslims pressurised Rajiv Gandhi that time only due to MJ Akbar's suggestion Rajiv Gandhi brought constitutional amendments.
That was MJ Akbar and I'm not saying this, this is said by Wajahat Habibullah working in the Prime Minister's office.
He says that time MJ Akbar was sitting with Rajiv Gandhi and that time HabibUllah entered and he heard him saying that if you don't bring the amendments then Muslims with get upset with you.
This is the case of a progressive Muslim, a journalist, that means he was okay with the unfair treatment with a poor Muslim woman
But he gave this kind of suggestion to Rajiv Gandhi because he was a congress tailman.
and now since you are BJP's tailman, you are talking in BJP language
So I want to know Mr. Modi, this kind of opportunist, this kind of man who has been accused of sexual harassment
how can such a person be a jewel for you?
How can be an assets for you?
You have to think
and at the same time all our viewers need to think who all are watching Bebaak today.
that should such Kind of powerful people stay in the Government?
The answer lies with you.
